RapidApp Adopts M5’s VoIP Technology
Headquartered in Chicago, RapidApp is a North American IT infrastructure consulting firm with significant experience designing, planning, and deploying IT network and systems infrastructures. The firm has 32 geographically dispersed employees who either work from home offices or travel extensively. With most employees spending 80 to 90 percent of their day on the phone, voice communications is an integral part of RapidApp’s daily business operations; all employees need immediate access to the phone system 100% of the time, impossible with the company’s old key system that didn’t provide the remote capabilities necessary to support virtual offices. RapidApp’s phone system forced remote employees to rely heavily on cell phones and personal land lines to communicate, decreasing overall productivity. RapidApp’s CEO, Mitch Northcutt, sought a reliable vendor who could supply an easy, flexible, and scalable solution with advanced remote usage capabilities.
Northcutt was already familiar with VoIP technology and knew VoIP’s advanced features, such as find-me-follow-me capabilities and remote access, would be a perfect solution for the traveling staff at his consulting firm. He originally considered putting an on site solution in place. But after researching all the options, he realized that there were no real benefits or cost savings involved in managing the service internally. Northcutt had heard about M5 through networking with business associates and chose its solution because it would provide all the features and advanced capabilities typically associated with VoIP with virtually none of the associated overhead and maintenance headaches. A short training session was all the IT savvy staff needed to become acquainted with M5 and preparation was simple because the necessary cabling infrastructure was already in place — installation consisted of dropping a voice switch into the office and canceling their old services.
RapidApp received all the features and functionality of VoIP without implementing and managing the service themselves. Everyone is happy with the solution, especially the sales staff, who count on the phone as a key tool to do their job. In the past, RapidApp used bridge conferencing, which required advance reservation and made scheduling conference calls inconvenient. With M5, conference calls can be conveniently performed on demand, increasing communication and collaboration on important projects. The entire staff uses M5’s find-me-follow-me feature, which ensures employees can always be reached by clients and other team members. After installation, RapidApp determined they had to move their corporate headquarters to a bigger office space, which will be easy with the flexibility of the M5 system.
