Argus Research Group Calls On M5 to Outsource Communications

Established Investment Research Firm Replaces In-House PBX in 3 Locations with Outsourced VoIP Phone System

The Challenge:

With over 100 employees spread across offices in Manhattan, Long Island, Connecticut and the United Kingdom, Argus Research Group and its affiliates have been providing independent investment research since 1934. The organization previously relied on traditional, analog PBXs for phone system communications. After using the same independent phone systems in the company’s US offices for close to 18 years, Argus’ Vice President of Technology, Bill Lehn, decided to upgrade to a VoIP solution. Having spent considerable time and capital over the years maintaining his existing phone system equipment, Lehn searched for a low maintenance solution that still guaranteed a high level of service.

The Solution:

After researching his options, Lehn concluded that an outsourced solution was the best choice and narrowed his decision down to M5’s Outsourced IP Phone System and another hosted provider. He eventually chose M5 because of the personalized service, responsiveness, and attention to detail he received from the company. Lehn worked closely with Lincoln Computer Services, an established systems integration consulting firm and Certified M5 Partner, to prepare his LAN infrastructure and deploy M5’s services for his organization. The Long Island office was the first to go-live on the new phone system, followed by the Manhattan and Connecticut offices. After each implementation, M5 was onsite providing training and support to end-users, and employees quickly adapted to the new functionality.

The Results:

Business continuity is one of the biggest benefits that Argus has received from its new phone system. Employees appreciate easily transferring calls between offices using 4-digit dialing as well as hoteling features allowing them to work out of any office location while retaining the same telephone number. Argus’ off-site workers, including remote analysts, data-entry clerks, programmers, and sales staff, can work from virtually any location with a broadband Internet connection and access M5’s Outsourced IP Phone System just as if they were in the office. In fact, during the three-day transit strike that crippled many New York City businesses, most Argus employees worked from home while a receptionist in the Connecticut office handled incoming calls for all locations.
